7 Reasons You Don't Meditate (and what you can do about it) Part 5 “I’ve meditated in a group, b

This, too, is common. There’s a few things going on in a group that makes it easier. First, the group agreement. Everyone is there for the same reason; they want to clear their space. In situations like this, synergy exists. That is, as Aristotle put it, the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. The energy force of “wherever two or more are gathered” is magnified, making it easier to find your space.
Also, many times, the facilitator of the group is setting the energy in a way that you can’t do on your own (yet). So, make space to do it with a group, or start your own group. It shouldn’t be too difficult to do.
In the meantime, consider “bringing the mountain to Mohammad”. That is, in your personal meditation space, imagine where the energy is set at the group meditation. Create a clear bubble and ask it to show you at what vibration/color the room was set with the group. See the color/colors. Expand that bubble to fill the room you’re in. This takes practice and some patience, but can be done.
Another reason that it’s more difficult to meditate on your own is that you haven’t cultivated an energy vibration for it in your home. Consider that every room in your home vibrates at a different level. The kitchen is set at one level, the bedroom at a different and the living room at still yet another.
When you go to a mall, every store is set at a different level. Restaurants create an atmosphere, depending on the clientele they wish to attract. Where you work has an energy level conducive for work.
For meditation, some people will design an altar or shrine where they live as a means of “setting the energy”. Some light candles, incense, smudge with sage or play soft music to enhance the space. All these things work to set a “tone”. How would you like to have it for you? There is no limit. As you’re getting ready for meditation, consider how you’d like to set the energy. Give it some real consideration, instead of just sitting on the couch, where the energy might already be set for “flopping” and spacing out. With practice, you can find the space to “set sanctuary” that will be in accordance with your meditation space.
